The homeowner wanted to replace a large front window that was structurally sound but functionally obsolete. The project prioritized three major design and performance requirements:
Preserving the View with Better Airflow: The client loved looking out at the mature street trees but wanted functional windows that could open fully to catch side breezes, a feature old slider windows do poorly.
Handling Northern Condensation and Drafts: Oversized windows in Edmonton are notorious for frosting over at the bottom corners during deep winter freezes. The new unit needed top-tier perimeter insulation.
Deep-Wall Trim Integration: Because older homes often have unique wall depths, standard window frames leave a gap to the interior drywall. The installation required custom-milled extension jambs to bridge the gap smoothly.
We installed a premium, heavy-duty three-panel vinyl window system engineered for maximum visibility and airtight security.
The Perfect View Layout: The expansive center panel remains fixed, offering a crystal-clear, frame-free view of the front yard, while the two side casement panels crank outward to actively scoop fresh air into the home.
Multi-Point Locking System: Unlike sliders, casement windows seal tightly against the frame like a refrigerator door when locked, providing the highest possible rating against air and water infiltration.

Low-E Glass Coating: The glass features a specialized microscopic metal oxide layer that reflects indoor heat back into the house during winter and blocks harsh UV rays in the summer.
Aerosolized low-expansion foam was injected around the entire structural rough opening to seal out hidden perimeter drafts completely.
